Diet is derived from the Greek word ‘dieta’ which means “way of life.”
Our diets often reflect our modern daily lifestyles. Are we rushed, stressed, tired? What does this say about our ways of living?
My passion for nutrition and cultural associations to food is the basis for the NourishMyWorld blog. During the past six years, I’ve travelled to over 15 countries to learn how cultures connect by sharing real-food. There’s tremendous beauty when people gather around the table to share in a meal and wonderful cultural traditions where food serves as an instrument for connection.
Our Western diets may also be an important contribution for the state of our many health challenges. I spent an extensive amount of time researching the associations between diet and disease, by studying for a specialization in Nutritional Therapy at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in England. My approach with clients applies Functional Medicine; which is a holistic, patient-centred, and evidence-based practice to well-being.
The goal of NourishMyWorld is to share information that I’ve gathered both on-the-road and in-the-classroom. When we provide the foundation for a healthy diet, these changes often have a more profound influence, that can reshape our entire “way of life.”
I hope you’ll enjoy sharing this journey!
To your health,
Candice
